MARMOSET Wishlist

The following is an internal wishlist for the Marmoset developers. For everyone else, please use the feature request page. The goal is to fix all Short Term issues by the January release.

• Get LHE output to work.
• parseOSET seems to always create new .xxx files, making generateProcess think it needs to re-make MC. Should only create files when they're different (not 100% sure this is the source of problem…but there's definitely a problem when I run both simultaneously)
• direct implementation of pgs4? (not through stdhep)
• The environmental variable PDG_MASS_TBL needs to be set properly by generate_process for the latest stdhep to work.
• Rouge hist_pt_gluino.dat file needs to go somewhere else.
• If there are no processes available, generateProcess should say so, instead of just outputting usage information.
• Fix internal documentation (e.g. README, marmosetHelp)
• processData should also be able to take data/mydata.blah as input instead of just data/mydata (liantao's request)
• OSET output should output optional arguments??
• Marmoset/doc/MetaMarmosetDoc/ should be removed.

• Finite widths?
• generateProcessBatch merge with generateProcess (done–continue checking and check PBS, Condor–nt)
• TeVatron running mode.
• move data entries into own folder (?)
• Add more stable particles per OSET

• Don't generate toc.txt and example.root in base runDir directory
• .status files need to be updated properly
• John Terning's installation issues need to be solved. (attempted?)
• Add real blackbox .par files to the distribution, make better default .oset files.

• One of us should look at ChRoot and see if it is appropriate for an analysis framework.
• Shouldn't have to add Marmoset to Path (should be able to call from Marmoset or Marmoset1).
• convert coefs to wt files without fitting.
• Change naming scheme in processes/pXXXXXX directory. Files associated with a given MC generator should be kept separate?

• MPotato plotting executables could use some merging, but it may not be worth it since the underlying platform needs so much work.
• consolidate MPotato input files? (gridcutter, mybins)
• Add BRIDGE to description of OSETs.
• MadGraph / Pandora
• Use one dimensional templates for fitting so we can do mass interpolation.

• Fix fitOSET error bars for rates (done, needs testing …jkt)
• Make instruction manual (!), wiki (?), website (??)
• CP-symmetry in production (simulate u g and u~ g initial states together, with proper pdf weightings) (Done. needs to be tested. –jkt)
• Correct tree checking (i.e. different particle names) (This is done but needs to be checked –jkt)
• Verify generate_stdhep → HPGS against generate_mc (jesse's plate… seems to work –jkt)
• Add PGS4 workflow to generateProcess (done but need to check–nt)
• Add stdhep merging to generateProcess workflow; check stdhep workflow (done but need to check–nt)
• Fix parseOSET behavior on problem_oset.oset (done, needs to be checked –jkt)
• Move current-processes.txt to meta/? (I agree with this change and I made it. –jkt)

• Fix make pythia behavior (user anonymous not recognized)
